S&S Opens New Distribution Center in Georgia

New Distribution Center in Georgia

Top 40 supplier S&S Activewear (asi/84358) has opened a new distribution center near Atlanta in McDonough, GA. Calling the facility state-of-the-art, S&S says the 505,000-square-foot warehouse is part of a national expansion. It adds to facilities in Illinois, Kansas, New Jersey, California and Texas. Nationally, S&S now has more than 3 million square feet of operations.

“Having the new Atlanta distribution center in operation by early 2018 was an ambitious goal, but our team delivered,” says S&S Chief Operating Officer Frank Myers. “The addition of our Georgia facility marks our presence as a complete national wholesaler.”

Opened in time for S&S’s 30th anniversary in 2018, the Georgia facility empowers the supplier to offer one-day ship times to southeastern states, including Georgia, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Alabama and Tennessee. S&S says the facility allows it to provide greater inventory to customers and create more demand for vendors. S&S told Counselor that the Georgia distribution center will bring 300 jobs to the local market.

S&S executives praised employees, vendors, customers, state and county officials, and partners at Cushman and Wakefield for helping make the expansion a reality. “We’re very proud of all the hard work and preparation our team brought to this project,” said S&S President Jim Shannon.

The Georgia facility is the second distribution center S&S has opened in about six months. The supplier also recently established a 493,000-square-foot distribution center in Fort Worth, TX. The Lone Star State facility offers expanded one-day coverage into the greater part of Texas, including Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston and Austin. It also covers all of Oklahoma, Northern Louisiana and select cities in Arkansas, including Little Rock, Myers has said.

Privately owned, S&S has more than 1,400 employees. With reported 2016 North American promotional product revenue of $275 million, S&S ranked sixth on Counselor’s most recent list of the largest suppliers in the industry. The new list is due out in July.
